A Catholic priest, who was recently based at Sawtell, has been charged over historical child sex offences.
Father John Patrick Casey appeared in court in Port Macquarie yesterday on nine sex offences alleged to have been committed against two brothers aged 9 and 11 in the Lismore Diocese in 1985.
The 67 year old priest, who was also a police chaplain, was refused bail by the magistrate.
Casey was remanded to appear in court again in September.
