Uralla’s mayor is still hopeful a forced merger between his council, Guyra and Armidale won’t happen.
Councillor Ron Filmer has come up with his own proposal which would be a voluntary amalgamation between the smaller councils of Uralla and Guyra.
He’ll put the idea to Uralla Council at its Monday meeting, and if endorsed, it will be forwarded as an alternate option to the Boundaries Commission.
Guyra’s mayor says his council is yet to formally endorse any proposal, but it would be sending its own submission to the commission.
