Lake Macquarie sailor Chris Nicholson is preparing for the next leg of the Volvo Ocean Race, which will take his crew from France to Sweden.
Having finished second on leg eight from Portugal to western France in its return to the event, Team Vestas Wind came back to reality at the in-port event at Lorient.
Nicholson and his crew made a solid start, but were soon stuck in the pack, and engaged in several near misses with markers and rival boats.
Following six months of repairs, Team Vestas was more than happy to play it safe, eventually settling for seventh.
