Residents have been evacuated during an overnight fire at a unit block in Newcastle.
Emergency services responded to reports of a blaze at a building on Fowler Street in Hamilton, around 7:30pm.
Fire crews extingusihed the blaze and there were no reports of injuries, but several units were evacuated and the building received extensive damage.
Police investigations led to the arrest of a 41-year-old man just after 9pm, but he has since been released as police investigations continue.
