RED CROSS CALLING FOR MORE BLOOD DONATIONS

The Red Cross Blood Service is calling for more donations over the school holidays.

Last week a third of donations were cancelled or rescheduled – something the service says is linked to the cold and flu season.

Across the mid north coast, 400 donations are needed in Taree, 500 in Port Macquarie and 600 in Coffs Harbour, in order to meet the needs of patients.

The service is urging people with the universal O-negative blood type in particular, to donate.
