Queensland side Interport Masters have won their fourth straight Tamworth June Invitational Baseball Carnival, with a 14-4 win over Newcastle in today’s final.
The pre-tournament favourites jumped out to a 10-run lead by the bottom of the sixth, leaving their opponents needing a run in the seventh inning to stay in the hunt.
Newcastle got two home, but Interport returned the favour on its next turn at the plate, forcing an end to the game under the mercy rule.
Hosts Tamworth finished last in A-Grade, recording a solitary win in its five games.
