ARMIDALE CONSIDERED FOR APVMA’S NEW HOME

Armidale has been named one of the preferred locations for the
Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority, which will be moved from Canberra to a regional centre.
It’s part of the federal government’s plan to decentralise a number of city departments.
If the authority relocates to the New England, it will create nearly 200 jobs and inject more than $16-million into the local economy each year.
“Why don’t we have it in an area that’s synonymous with the agriculture economy, which is Armidale, but it’s not Armidale alone that can put forward their best foot.”
Toowoomba in South Queensland is also being considered.
