Councils in the New England have secured more than $10-million worth of Federal Government funding under the Financial Assistance Grants scheme.
Tamworth is the biggest winner, with a $2.5 million cash injection, while Armidale, Gunnedah, Inverell and Tenterfield also received more than a million each.
The money is untied, with the councils free to choose what to spend it on.
