MAITLAND SPRINGS AN UPSET OVER HAMILTON IN NHRU

In Newcastle and Hunter rugby, Wanderers remain undefeated after belting Uni, Beaches beat the Bay, the Tahs hammered the Roos.
Merewether outclassed Easts and Maitland scraped home against Hamilton.
At Passmore Oval, Jason Keelan put Hamilton in front early on.
Neither side was looking polished in attack .. it took a Rob Smith intercept and 70 metre dash to produce the first try of the game and Smith’s first for the season.
Jono O’Toole got Maitland on the board midway through the half.
The Blacks tied things up with a great long range try of their own .. Josh McCormack on the end of a move that covered 95 metres.
Eric Vasu put the Hawks back in front before the break, but Maitland came back to spring an upset.
