APPROVAL SOUGHT TO CUT DOWN 40 BAT-INFESTED TREES

Singleton Council has lodged an application with the state government, to remove half of the trees at Burdekin Park, in a bid to address a serious flying fox problem.
It comes after an arborist assessed the site and found 40 of the 83 trees to be dead or beyond saving.
The park has been closed since March, due to an infestation of more than 20,000 bats.
