Double-demerits are now in place, as part of a state-wide traffic blitz targeting people heading home from holidays.
Operation Safe Return runs through to Sunday night – with Mid North Coast police targeting speed, alcohol and fatigue.
“Something we’ve been looking at in this area also is people towing vehicles – we’ve had a few mishaps with people towing caravans, boats and stuff like that, probably driving beyond their level of skill,” Highway Patrol’s Senior Sergeant John Hay said.
During Operation Safe Arrival, 50 motorists were caught drink-driving, with another 300 issued speeding fines.
