The Port Macquarie Maroro Outrigger Club is preparing to defend its Sydney Harbour Challenge crown this weekend.
The club surprised many of its rivals last year by taking out the open mixed race at the prestigious event.
Three crews will compete in the 25-kilometre race, including a crew of novice paddlers.
But they’ll face some tough competition with clubs from Queensland and Sydney taking part.
The race will go from Manly to the Harbour Bridge and back.
