Setting up for the annual Samaritans Christmas lunch got underway this morning, with more than 250 volunteers taking time to lend a hand today and tomorrow.
The event is in its 13th year, and around 800 people are expected to attend.
“The Samaritans realise Christmas can be a very stressful and difficult time for a number of people and we are very committed to ensuring that everybody feels a part of a community.”
The lunch will be held at the Carriage Sheds on Newcastle’s foreshore from 11am.
