POLICE HUNT ROCK THROWERS

Central Hunter police are investigating a rock attack on a passenger train travelling through Beresfield yesterday afternoon.

The train driver told police a large rock was thrown from the Lawson Avenue overpass at around 2.30, cracking the train’s windscreen.

Luckily, no one was injured and no rail services were disrupted.

The overpass is one of a number in the Hunter region without safety barriers.

Railcorp was today unavailable for comment.
