GOONOO GOONOO MAKES A LONG AWAITED COMEBACK

While in today’s bush cricket, the summer sport returned to Goonoo Goonoo Station for the first time in nearly half a century.

The synthetic wicket was put in yesterday, as the Goannas took on fellow competition newcomers Kootingal.

Veteran Rex Whitten says the playing field is exactly the same as the last match in 1966.

“It was serious cricket. There was no leniency in the rules as the competition is now. It’s slackened off a little bit to make it a bit more even.”
