Clarence Valley residents have been urged to go easy on their water use.
It follows a spike in consumption over the past few weeks.
Mayor Richie Williamson says there’s insufficient water flow in the Nymboida River, so water is now being taken from the Shannon Creek Dam – Coffs Harbour’s main supply.
He says people need to be water-wise, with garden hoses and sprinklers banned during the heat of the day.
