The Matildas have suffered a heartbreaking loss in the Asian Cup final, going down 1-0 to Japan in Jordan.
Australia dominated territory and possession for the majority, with one of their best chances a penalty in the first half.
But a late Japanese goal was enough for the 2014 champions to claim victory, and back to back Asian Cups.
The Matildas will now turn their attention to preparation for next year’s Women’s World Cup in France.
