Newcastle East Public School stepped back in time today, to celebrate its colonial past.
At 198 years old, it’s the longest continually running school in Australia.
Students were encouraged to dress in historical costume.
But the event attracted some criticism from members of the community who say the celebrations glorify some of Australia’s unsavory history.
