A Lebanese man accused of marrying and having a sexual relationship with a 12-year-old girl has pleaded guilty to ongoing child sex abuse.
Police allege the 27-year-old befriended the girl while he was studying at the University of Newcastle, and married her in the Hunter in January.
He has been ordered not to contact his victim for two years.
A sentencing date will be set next week – he’s currently in immigration detention.
