There was loads of lycra at Honeysuckle this morning, for the launch of this year’s Bikefest.
Cyclists peddled past Newcastle Harbour, ahead of the festival’s official start date at the end of the month.
As its name suggests, Bikefest celebrates cycling, and aims to promote it as a healthy lifestyle activity.
“What we’re trying to do as community members is tell everybody that exercise is a fun thing to do, it’s an organised thing to do so you can come and be part of an organised event as an elite cyclist or you can come and take part in the community challenge.”
