Another regional sports centre is about to be created, with the redevelopment of Newcastle’s Number Two Sportsground given the green light.
The $7-million plan was approved at a meeting of the Regional Planning Panel late today.
The oval-shaped ground will be converted to a rectangular field boasting a new grandstand and concourse seating.
The facility will also incorporate an office, club, bar and canteen, as well as change and function rooms.
Construction will start early in the new year, with the help of $2-million in Commonwealth funding.
