A motorcyclist has been airlifted to John Hunter Hospital in a critical condition after being hit by a four wheel drive near Wauchope this morning.
Emergency services were called to King Creek Road just after 11:00.
Police say the driver of a Nissan Navara travelling west lost control on a bend and crossed onto the wrong side of the road before hitting the oncoming motorcyclist.
The 25-year-old man suffered significant injuries including two broken legs and a suspected broken arm.
The driver of the other vehicle underwent mandatory testing.
Investigations into the crash are ongoing.
