Kempsey’s CBD is one of several locations across the Macleay Valley that’s been named ‘historically important’ by council in a bid to protect its look from possible development.
It’s part of council’s heritage scheme, which aims to ensure developers maintain the area’s heritage by incorporating design elements from surrounding buildings.
East Kempsey, Gladstone, Frederickton and Bellbrook are also sited as key heritage sites.
The draft scheme is on public exhibition, and submissions close on October 30.
