SENATE TO CONSIDER WATER TRIGGER AMENDMENTS

This week the senate is expected to consider amendments to water trigger legislation, which was originally introduced by former Member for New England Tony Windsor.
The legislation ensured the federal government would assess the impact of mining companies and coal seam gas on water resources, but now, that power could be handed over to the state government.
The suggested change was passed through the lower house earlier this year, and received backlash from farmers and environmental groups.
