Upgrades to the Ballina Lighthouse and Lismore Surf Life Saving Club are likely to start in the coming months.
Ballina councillors and the JALI local Aboriginal Land Council have come to a compromise over the club’s car park which sits on Aboriginal land.
Council will now encourage indigenous participation in the club’s construction and future programs.
“I understand that council is now working parallel to the work that Jali is now doing with the NSW aboriginal land council to look at construction certificates on the land, land which will will be the new road reserve.”
