A project aimed at giving students opportunities beyond the classroom is now operating in Tamworth and Gunnedah.
‘Youth Opportunities 2 Education’ gives high school students a chance to participate in accredited courses via TAFE New England such as construction, animal care and agriculture.
40 participants from schools across the region are already involved in the program.
It’s hoped the program will expand as more of the community gets on board.
“Linking with the drug and alcohol team and New England Health and TAMS and providing some wrap around services and support through a program that we’re sort of producing at the moment.”
