CROWDFUNDING PUTS RAIL TRAIL ON TRACK

A crowdfunding campaign has raised more than $30,000 in just 10 days to help fund a rail trail between Casino and Murwillumbah.

The Northern Rivers Rail Trail committee say they need to raise $75,000 for the design costs needed to transform the disused rail line.

Both the Richmond Valley and Lismore City councils have already thrown their support behind the project.

“The aim is to put a proposal, a business case together, so that we can then submit that to the State or Federal Government funding programs.”

Those in support of a rail trail say it will boost tourism and ensure the corridor remains a valuable public asset.
