DEBATE OVER HOSPITAL HYGIENE

The Health Services Union believes the redeveloped Port Macquarie Base Hospital will fail to meet appropriate levels of hygiene, if extra cleaners aren’t employed.
The hospital has employed six new cleaning staff, however a union spokesman says there should be at least 21.
General Manager for the hospital, Dr Robert Pegram, says the staff numbers meet industry standards.
The Union also says the number of security, wardsmen and operating theatre staff should increase.
