HAMILTON HOUSE FIRE CAUGHT IN NICK OF TIME

A quick-thinking neighbour – and clever work by fire fighters – helped stop a fire that broke out in a Hamilton house this morning.
Flames had begun marching up a wall cavity into the roof space of a Buchanan Street cottage at around 11am, when the neighbour raised the alarm.
Once into the rafters, the blaze spread quickly, and the house was only moments from being engulfed.
Fire fighters arrived and used a heat sensor to identify hot spots, and extinguished the flames.
Earlier building work is thought to have accidentally sparked the fire.
