CELEBRATION FOR 100 YEARS OF POLICE WOMEN

A team of female police officers will take to Coffs Harbour streets on Sunday June 14 to celebrate 100 years of women serving in the New South Wales police force.

They’ll be running from the police station to the jetty where a public barbecue and other activities will be held to mark the milestone.

Women now make up 26 percent of the force.

“Well the theme of the 100 year celebration is compassion, courage and strength and I think that really sums up the skills and attributes that women bring to policing,” said Inspector Joanne Reid.

The olympic style baton relay has already been through several regional towns.
