A trawler chasing flathead off Crowdy Head had to be towed to safety after it broke down early this morning.
“Probably about six o’clock this morning we got a hydraulic leak in the gear box and it just lacks compulsion.”
The rescue operation took the Camden Haven Marine Rescue team about four hours to complete.
The vessel was eventually taken to Laurieton.
Crew members say it’s the first time they’ve had mechanical issues of that kind, and are disappointed they missed out on a good catch.
