REPORT HIGHLIGHTS NEED FOR GAS PROJECTS

A report has found New South Wales households could suffer severe gas shortages in winter months, if proposed gas projects in Gloucester and Narrabri aren’t brought on-line by 2017.
Energy Minister Chris Harcher says the report by the Australian Energy Market Operator, supports the state government’s view that future availability is inadequate without new local supply.
Meanwhile, AGL says a recent telephone survey shows people in Gloucester and the Manning do see benefits of the company working in the region.
1,000 people were surveyed including 200 from the local area.
Of the locals, 50 per cent were opposed to CSG mining and 50 per cent were neutral or in favour.
