A teenage pedestrian is in a critical condition after being hit by a car near Newcastle last night.
The 18-year-old man from Toronto was thrown 20 metres when the four-wheel drive struck him on Toronto Road in Booragul.
He was taken to John Hunter Hospital with serious head and back injuries.
The 35-year-old man driving the car was not injured and is undergoing mandatory blood and urine tests.
