Tiger Airways will cease flying between Newcastle and Melbourne from next week.
The airline says it is suspending the service indefinitely, based on a reshuffle of resources to other routes.
The cut price carrier only began flying into Newcastle in January, and has been plagued by several highly publicised mishaps that left hundreds of passengers stranded.
Jetstar and Virgin Blue are still offering up to four return flights a day between Newcastle and Melbourne.
