$920,000 DAIRYVILLE BRIDGE OPEN

The $920,000 Houlahans Bridge at Dairyville, west of Coffs Harbour, is now open to traffic.

Family representative Lyle Houlahan did the honours this morning, cutting the ribbon alongside Coffs Harbour mayor, Keith Rhoades.

A group of locals was then first to cross the 60-metre-long bridge which is the longest concrete crossing ever built by council’s bridge crew.

The single-lane bridge replaced on old timber structure that had become unsafe and was susceptible to flooding.

Its construction provides safe access over the Urumbilum River for approximately 70 rural families.
