THE EASYBEATS FRONTMAN DIES AGED 68
The Easybeats frontman, Stevie Wright, is being remembered as an amazing performer and one of Australia’s greatest rock’n’roll stars.
Wright passed away in a hospital on the NSW south coast last night at the age of 68, after becoming ill on Boxing Day.
Music historian Glenn A Baker described Wright’s death as an enormous loss, while fellow singer Normie Rowe says he was an amazing performer.
The Easybeats are regarded as the greatest Australian pop band in the 1960s, and were inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 2005.
Their song Friday On My Mind was a number-one hit in Australia, number six in Britain and made the top 20 in the U.S.
