Newcastle’s Silk Hotel on Hunter Street has been forced to close this weekend.
The Independent Liquor and Gaming Authority has imposed a 72-hour shut-down, after eight men were charged over a brawl with police last Sunday.
Police officers were also concerned about the hotel posing a risk to the public during the Fat as Butter festival.
The hotel will be able to re-open from Monday night.
