LISMORE CLUB’S NEW ‘LEASE’ ON LIFE

It’s been deserted for years, but the historic Lismore Club could soon be a hive of activity once again.
Council last night voted to move ahead with its plans to sell the building to the Lismore Family Support Network.
It hopes the move will not only help the service branch out, but stimulate the local economy.
“That would also help the businesses in town by having another set of workers working in town and perhaps purchasing coffee and all hose sorts of things in town as well.”
Just two years ago, Mayor Jenny Dowell had to use her casting vote to save the club from demolition, amid repair work on the city’s levee.
