Two male car thieves who spraypainted over a stolen Holden’s number plates remain on the run, after evading police on both sides of the border.
Police spotted them at Broadbeach but failed to intercept the vehicle.
“Police set up cordons on the area and the vehicle was again sighted travelling at the M1 motorway into New South Wales.”
Coolangatta residents then reported seeing two males running from a dumped car on Maclean Street.
Police dogs searched the area but found nothing.
Officers have now turned to forensic evidence for clues.
