Despite calls for the old Gold Coast hospital site to become a homeless shelter or hospice, the State Government has decided it will be demolished, with the land subdivided and sold off.
Southport C-B-D has now been declared a Priority Development Area, so Council is in full control of its redevelopment.
“That’s the option that our advice has led us to believe will provide the maximum return to the state but more importantly the maximum amount of development opportunities to southport.”
“I’ve had a conga line of people coming from parts of asia as well and there’s even been a bit of american interest here in southport.”
“And we’ve got the team ready to take the applications and I’m sure they’ll start pouring in tomorrow morning.”
Demolition will begin early next year.
