The Loft youth venue has shut up shop earlier than expected, with Newcastle Council completing procedures for its closure ahead of schedule.
It was due to close at the end of the year.
Some of its services are being operated by other areas of council, while councillors will soon consider expressions of interest for continuing other Loft programmes.
Meanwhile, a festival popular with the city’s youth opens tonight.
This year, This is Not Art is teaming up with City Evolutions, responsible for the interactive light installations on Watt Street.
