TWO CURRENT WORLD CHAMPIONS SIGN UP FOR SURFEST

The great news just keeps on coming for Surfest, with the reigning men’s and women’s world champions today confirmed for the event at Merewether Beach.
Joel Parkinson and Stephanie Gilmore both have fond memories of their time in Newcastle, and are keen to use the event to prepare for the opening rounds of their respective tours.
“We’re going to be the first hit out for these surfers, they’ve had a long break, especially the ladies, so they’ll use it as a hit out to test equipment, test how they’re going on their fitness.”
Unfortunately, WA star Taj Burrow has announced he’ll miss Surfest, but the men’s finalists from 2012 will both be here next month.
