Former Australia A bowler Mark Cameron has been appointed coach of the Newcastle side that will play in the Sydney Twenty Twenty competition for the first time this summer.
In another boost, the Merewether paceman has agreed to play as well.
Selectors will finalise a train-on squad of 16 next week, with Newcastle’s opening game to be played on October 27.
