Tamworth is now the 12th destination to boast a QantasLink regional lounge.
It follows the airline’s decision to add a further eight flights per week to the schedule between Sydney and Tamworth earlier this year.
“This construction is a clear indication of the confidence that we have in Tamworth, its expanding regional businesss but also the leisure tourism that it brings.”
Acting Mayor Russell Webb says he hopes the extra attention given to the regional service will help boost the local economy.
“And, make our regional airport more competitive in terms of being able to bring more dollars into the system here, let us build a better facility as a regional council, and also help QantasLink maintain the services that they maintain.”
