In Newcastle rugby league Wyong bounced back against Cessnock, while Wests belted Central.
Macquarie beat the Blues and Souths hammered Lakes.
The home side was presented with a gift when Daniel Wood threw the ball to Adam Fielder.
Wood redeemed himself minutes later, opening the account for Souths.
Joe Cudmore’s dart from dummy half turned into a long range try, as he left several in his wake.
An in form Nathan Hinton exposed big holes in the Lakes defence, racing 70 metres to give the Lions a healthy lead.
