Chaffey Dam’s recent upgrade has won a major industry award for excellence.
The $50 million upgrade has received the Regional Award at the 2016 Australian Engineering Excellence Awards in the Newcastle Division.
The works included raising the dam wall by eight metres, the construction of a new bridge and increasing the storage capacity to 100,000 gigalitres – all of which proved beneficial over the past few weeks of heavy rain.
The project is also a finalist in the Master Builders’ Association construction excellence awards, to be announced in early November.
