Emergency crews were kept busy today, called to Umina Beach this morning, helping to pull a group of swimmers to safety.
A few swimmers were spotted in trouble shortly before 10am.
A man in his 40s was rushed to Gosford Hospital in a serious condition after swallowing a lot of water.
