WAR OF WORDS OVER JET HOUSING

Senator David Feeney has accused Port Stephens Council of a “callous money grab”, by sticking with its decision to allow housing in an area it was asked not to develop because of jet noise.
Councillors last night did NOT overturn the move to transform a former nursery site at Raymond Terrace, which will be under the flight path of the incoming Joint Strike Fighters.
Despite a threat of legal action, and calls for the state planning minister to intervene, councillors says it’s the right decision, because prospective home owners will be alerted to the noise issue before purchasing properties.
