Another medical practice has been held to ransom by international hackers.
Staff at Mermaid Waters ‘Back in Motion’ Physiotherapy clinic arrived to find they’d been locked out of 10,000 patient records.
Hackers demanded they pay 5000 US dollars to retrieve the files.
Luckily the records have since been restored.
“Fortunately we have a great back up it support and off site back up and it’s a great lesson for any small businesses about the importance of back up.”
The Miami Family Medical Centre was hit by a similar scam last year.
