The State government has commenced the next planning phase for a light rail replacement for Newcastle’s heavy rail line.
The tenders are for studies into where a light rail route would cover and also into how people currently get around the city.
A project director,Mr Jason Rogers, has been appointed to work within Transport NSW.
The project depends on proceeds from a sale of the Port of Newcastle.
